Fishing ban 2020 – Order published in the Official Monitor (March 4, 2020)
In Official Monitor 179 of March 4, 2020, ORDER no. 43/310/2020 on the establishment of fishing prohibition periods and areas, as well as protection areas for living aquatic resources in 2020.
Based on this issued act, prohibition measures are established for commercial, recreational/sports and family fishing of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other live aquatic creatures in natural fish habitats, for a period of 60 days, in between April 4 and June 2 inclusive, and in the waters that constitute the state border, for a period of 45 days, between April 19 and June 2 inclusive, with the exceptions provided for in this order.
Prohibition 2020. Some aspects of interest for recreational fishermen, extracted from the Prohibition Order for 2020 published in the Official Gazette:

Fishing for commercial, recreational/sports and family purposes of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic creatures is prohibited in the Meleaua Sfântu Gheorghe economic zone up to Ciotic , for a period of 60 days, between April 4 and April 2 June inclusive.

Fishing for commercial, recreational/sporting and family purposes of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other live aquatic creatures is prohibited in the waters that constitute the layer border with Ukraine , including the Gulf of Musura , for a period of 45 days, during April 19- June 2, inclusive.

Fishing for commercial and recreational/sports purposes of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other live aquatic creatures is prohibited in the Prut River and in the permanently or temporarily flooded areas adjacent to it, as well as in the Stânca - Costești reservoir , for a period of for 60 days, between April 4 and June 2 inclusive.

Fishing for commercial and recreational/sports purposes of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other living aquatic creatures is prohibited in the Danube River in the area that constitutes the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria , for a period of 45 days, during April 19 – June 2 inclusive .

Fishing for commercial, recreational/sports and family purposes of any species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other live aquatic creatures is prohibited in the Razim - Sinoe Complex and the coastal lakes , for a period of 60 days, between April 4 and June 2 inclusive.
Protection areas for living aquatic resources are detailed in the published Order. The biological restoration areas for living aquatic resources, within the perimeter of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, are detailed in the published Order.
Regarding species and periods of prohibition, the 2020 Prohibition Order provides, among other things:

Pike fishing is prohibited, from the date of entry into force of this order until March 15, 2020 inclusive, without prejudice to the provisions of art.1. Pike fishing is also prohibited between February 1, 2021 and March 15, 2021.

Perch and perch fishing is prohibited from March 23 to June 2 inclusive.

It is prohibited to fish the following species of fish according to GEO no. 57/2007: the stoner (Zingel zingel), the fusari (Zingel strebel), the river grebe (Gymnocephalus baloni), the grebe (Petroleuciscus borysthenicus/Leucisus borysthenicus), the sander volgense (Sander volgense), the rough (Romanichtyis valsanicola), the pecarina (Pecarina demidoffi ), the govid (Neogobius syrman), the eastern wagtail (Cottus poecilopus), the shrike (Hucho hucho), the shrike (Lota lota) and the caracuda (Carassius carassius).

According to the Prohibition Order 2020, fishing for whitefish , grayling , sea trout , and sturgeons is prohibited all year round . For native trout , rainbow trout and brown trout , fishing is prohibited from the date this order enters into force until March 31 inclusive and from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

The prohibition of fishing for commercial, recreational/sporting and family purposes of the Danube flounder is established, by sector, these being detailed in the Prohibition Order for 2020 published in the Official Gazette. As a novelty, in the perimeter of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, family fishing for mackerel is allowed using a maximum of 2 nets between April 9 and April 18 inclusive , in the areas approved by Government Decision no. 763/2015 for the approval of the Management Plan and the Regulation of the "Danube Delta" Biosphere Reserve.
News in this 2020 Prohibition Order:

A specific period of prohibition for shad and perch is introduced from March 23, until June 2, 2020, inclusive.

Fishing with compound nets is allowed during the tourist season in the Danube Delta between June 1 and September 30, 2020. Compound nets with mesh sides of a = 70/100 mm, 2a = 140/200 mm.

The restrictions specified in the Prohibition Order of 2019 regarding the retention of carp and pike species by recreational fishermen in the Danube Delta are removed .

the prohibition period for mackerel can change (unfavorable weather conditions).

The Governor of the ARBDD, by way of exception, cannot extend the period of banning the use of nets in the ponds, lakes, streams and canals on the territory of the "Danube Delta" Biosphere Reserve, in unfavorable hydrological conditions. Instead, the new order prohibits the use of nets in the perimeter of the Danube Delta, with the exception of the Razim-Sinoe lagoon complex, when the level/elevation of the Danube at Tulcea is below 100 cm.
Don't forget that legally a maximum of 5 kg of fish/day can be retained from the catch or only one fish, if its weight exceeds 5 kg and is above the minimum size provided by law.
