Here you are our guests, not just holidaymakers.
Our story began out of love for the Danube Delta and the desire to show people its true beauty, the beauty that can be discovered in peace, not on the run.
Originally, the guesthouse was just our family home. We built it 10 years ago with the children in mind, each with their own room, en-suite bathroom and exit to the terrace. But as we got an extra loft, we thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to turn it into a place where we could welcome people who love the Delta as much as we do.
And so Verada was born - a name inspired by the two wonders in my life: Vera, my wife, and Ada, our daughter.
Thank you for stopping by.
Vera is the soul of the guesthouse and the kitchen.
Vera, my wife, is a chef by trade and, to be honest, a true phenomenon of industriousness. She taught cookery at school and knows all the family recipe secrets. When she's ill, she still finds the strength to clean up or prepare something nice for guests.
Our menu is simple and authentic: fresh fish, cheeses from local farmers and honey directly from local beekeepers. If you let us know ahead of time, Vera will prepare sturgeon or plaice, just like her mum used to make.

I am Marcel, your host and guide in the Delta.
I was a sailor for 15 years. I went to high school at Navrom and sailed enough to see the world. But as beautiful as all the places I've been, the Danube Delta remained my favourite place. This is where I came back to after I stopped sailing - between still waters and reeds where only the birds make noise.
But my passion for fishing has stayed with me. And it's one of the reasons why we organise personalised trips to less-trodden lakes. I love showing guests my favourite spots, telling them stories about fishermen and how the Delta used to be.

What you see is what you get
At Verada Pension, we have nothing to hide. The food is local, the prices are fair and every story told is true. We love to give our guests advice: where to find the best fresh fish or which trails are worth discovering.
We'd love to send them to real fish markets, like the one in Mila 23, where Victor and Daniela cook fresh fish, delivered in the morning. For us, the greatest joy is showing the places and people that make us proud to be from here.
Personalised "Delta at leisure" trips
What really sets us apart are our customised excursions. We have two boats and a catamaran that runs at a slow 10km/h - perfect for families with children and those who want to admire the Delta without the rush. If you're a smaller group, we'll take you on special routes, not just the standard ones. We prefer the less busy lakes, where the silence is broken only by paddles touching the water.

Fresh fish and home-style meals
For us, food isn't just about satiating our guests, it's about giving them an opportunity to enjoy themselves and tell stories. If you tell us ahead of time, we'll prepare a sturgeon, plaice or gravy, just like Vera's mum used to make them. Every meal is an opportunity to sit around and share recipes or memories of the Delta. All the products are 100% natural: eggs from local farmers, fresh cheeses and honey straight from the beekeepers. We don't like compromises - we want guests to feel the authenticity of the place right from breakfast.

Quiet evenings and stories on the terrace
Here you won't find noisy parties, but quiet evenings on the terrace, with stories about fishermen, sunsets over the reeds and the song of the crickets. We want every guest to feel that time slows down a little in the Danube Delta. We sit around a spritz, talk about fishing, the birds of the Delta and what this place was like in the old days, when there weren't so many boats and tourists.

The Delta as we know it
Our mission
Our mission is to show you the true beauty of the Danube Delta as we know it: peaceful, authentic and alive. We want to preserve this unique place unchanged, respecting nature and local traditions. Every tour, every meal and every recommendation we make is designed to offer our guests authentic experiences, unhurried and uncrowded. We prefer small groups and less-travelled routes, where you can enjoy the sound of birds and the stillness of the waters without disturbing the delicate balance of the Delta.
We want every guest to leave Verada not only with beautiful memories, but also with a deeper respect for nature and the stories of this place.
We are always happy to tell about our beloved Delta.
